Christmas Ghost Story

Believe it or not, Charles Dickens wasn't just making up something fun.  He'd tuned in to a job we must do part-time.  In our line of work, we do have to go meet and greet the recently deceased to help them cross-over and make it through their life transition so they aren't going alone.

The other part of our job is that we sometimes get called in to participate with Christmas Eve conversions.  Honestly, we can't convert most people, and so as the final spirit to visit it would be my job to make those forget if they refuse to find their heart and to care about others.

So, on Christmas Eve, should I appear amid mist and fog, and you awaken to find yourself in a cemetery, that doesn't necessarily mean you're transitioning from life, but hopefully transitioning to caring about others.

Merry Christmas.

A note from the Grim Reaper...

Don't fear the Reaper...

Just a note: I do NOT bring death.
I do NOT cause death.

I arrive AFTER DEATH.
I arrive to HELP you cross over.

Don't fear the Reaper.  I'm not your enemy, I'm not bad luck, I'm here for you.
It's a depressing job, and one that is often surrounded by sadness.
I promise you this: I bring with me love.  In this love, I hope to help.

And yet, it's still depressing.  Death is sadness for the living, and - as an empath - I feel that sadness.
Don't fear the Reaper.

I'm just doing my job.

Otherwise, just as I lift your spirits, I lift mine 3 nights a week at the Wrong Way Inn Comedy Lounge with original stand-up and jokes.  Come out and see me doing my thing at night where I'm
"TURNING TRAGEDY TO COMEDY!"

See you there, see you REAL soon,
Death

Grim Reaper School Comics Online

Well, when you're performing the job of Death, you have a few things in life you enjoy.  For me, this is one of them.

Grim Reaper School.

From the website:

Meet Charlie, a foul mouthed twelve-year old who would rather play video games than do her homework. She attends a high class school, likes to skateboard and bullies her best friend into wreaking havoc on authority figures. Oh, and one more thing. She’s dead!
In the afterlife, Charlie has been placed into the “Grim Reaper School”, the place where the souls of children with unfinished business go to help other souls make it safely to the other side. Unfortunately for Charlie, a weapon of mass destruction has claimed her as its master, and the suspicious Reaper Council has given her the task of babysitting the school’s hyper and unpredictable Headmaster. This kid is convinced she’s been cheated, but she’ll soon learn there is more to being a Reaper than a black cloak and scythe.

Flying Grim Reaper Prank - By Tom Mabe

Even I have to think this is funny because this is SO like real life for me.  Folks see me, they run in fear.

I really do hope one day I can be just accepted in regular society, though.

See Tom Mabe's YouTube page by clicking here.

Halloween!

Well, good evening guys and ghouls!

My favorite holiday is around the corner.  It's my favorite time of year!  I get to go out, collect candy, and be among the living without someone being fearful of me.  It's good to finally be welcome into any part of society.

Not like usual when I show up and folks start panicking and crying and saying they need more time and breaking my heart.  I hate my job.  But, it's a necessary evil I guess.  And not really evil.  I offer a soft touch and am always glad to help folks get to the other side, wherever that may lead them.  Still, lots of sorrow abound and that's the part I hate.

But, I digress, I get to go out soon and just be around people without fear of the work I do--it's as if they expect me to show up and when I do they are so glad to see me!

Except for those who really can't see me, and then they mistake me for someone else.  I don't like doing my job, but sometimes?  I do it for the fun of it.  Even I get angry.

So, take care, plan a safe, happy Halloween, and I'll see you real soon!
Love,
Death

A message from Death himself:

Good evening, ladies and germs.  I have been working in a most depressing field for years and years and years and years and years and years and...you get the idea.

BUT!

It's not only depressing, but it's sad.  I have to go to places where gathering the souls of others are heartbreaking.

So, I have decided to break my chains of this "collection agency" and use that as my day job (as they call it) while I plan to move forward and into a new world where I bring myself forward into a brighter, happier world.

Yes, I've not only begun writing jokes to use during my stand-up at open mike nights, but I am also looking for a girlfriend and a pet that fits my personality.  I wouldn't mind getting a part-time gig working with the living as opposed to always working with the dead.

I have set a goal for myself, and I hope to get a bigger, better world started for myself, and I hope you'll be a part of it.  Maybe I'll see you at a stand-up gig, or at another kind of show, but, if I have to see you during my regular job, then you'll see me at my saddest moments.  Want to know when to expect me to visit?  Visit the Death Clock by clicking here.

Feel free to post to me in the comments section below.  But, be nice, or I may decide to come visit you sooner than later.
